We will meet at the picnic shelter behind the restrooms where water is also available.

All tools/equipment will be provided, including work gloves. Please have everyone dress for the weather and wear long pants and closed toe shoes as we will be working off trail in wooded areas.

We will be working on pulling invasive burning bush from the forested areas of Flowing Well Park (5100 E 116th St).

We’ll talk about invasive plants and how they effect ecosystems before we jump in to pulling, bagging, and burning bush seedlings.

I have attached our Volunteer Waiver for everyone to fill out who is participating. You can either scan and send them to me or just bring the paper copies to the project, whichever is easier!

If a bus is your transportation, have the driver drop off and pick up students and at least one chaperone on the west side of the Observatory, Garden Road where the road is marked, and a ramp is located before parking at Hinkle Fieldhouse’s Overflow area.

Community Cleanup project and Cookout

Help us clean up Cheeney Creek and meet up at Matt’s house afterward for a cookout (weather permitting). Meet at the Cheeney Creek Nature Area parking lot. Bring work gloves if you have them and large trash bags. I will have disposable gloves if you need them.

Afterwards we will have a cookout at Matt’s house (11313 Meadows Dr.), which backs up to where we’ll be cleaning the creek. Hot dogs, chips, fruit.
